  •        On May 18th, 2016, Advances in Manufacturing (hereinafter referred to as “AiM”) the 3th of Advances in Manufacturing (hereinafter referred to as “AiM”) overseas editorial board meeting was officially convened in the University Hall on the second floor of New Lehu Building, Baoshan Campus of Shanghai University. Attendees included Associate Editors-in-Chief Professor Andrew YC Nee (National University of Singapore), Professor Jin-wu Qian and Professor Wen-cong Lu (Shanghai University). Also editorial board members in attendance were Professor Bin-shi Xu (The Academy of Armored Forces Engineering), Professor Liang-chi Zhang (UNSW), Professor Johan Liu (Chalmers University of Technology), and Professor Han-xiong Li (City Universityof Hong Kong), Professor Mervi Paulasto-Kröckel( Aalto University), Professor Ke-sheng Wang (NTNU ), Professor Christian Coddet (UTBM), Professor Feng-zhou Fang (Tianjin University), Prof Shuo-zhong Wang (Formely EiC of Journal of Applied Sciences ), Dr Meng-chu Huang and Dr Stephen Yeung (Springer), as well as Mrs. Na Qin (Director of Periodicals Agency of Shanghai University), Mr. Zhi-qiang Liu ( Deputy Director of Periodicals Agency of Shanghai University), and all the editors from AiM.
          Professor Jin-wu Qian hosted the morning session. Firstly, Mrs. Na Qin expressed her gratitude towards all the members. In addition, she wished all the members to continuously support the development of AiM. Afterwards, Dr. Chun-ming Jiang, as Director of AiM, reported the latest development in terms of manuscript submission, SpringerLink downloading, database index, review process and so forth. Dr Meng-chu Huang, Professor Liang-chi Zhang and Professor Shuo-zhong Wang all delivere their opinions about the journal.
          At noon, Professor Hong-jie Luo, Editor-in-Chief, welcomed the EB members and other editorial mem bers present. He thanked them for their sterling support of AIM and hoped they will continue to do so in the future.
          In the afternoon, there was a roundtable discussion, which was hosted by Professor Andrew YC Nee. The members had a lively discussion on many topics, including the improvement of AiM’s citation rate, the preparation and organization of hotspot issues, and the publication and promotion of academic papers. The meeting achieved great success.
          On the morning of May 19th, the forum on “Advanced Manufacturing Technologies—Current Trends and Future Directions” (jointly convened by Editorial Board of AIM and Shanghai Robot Society), was held at the 817 Room,Excellent reports were presented by Professor Bin-shi Xu, Professor Han-xiong Li, Professor Liang-chi Zhang, Professor Christian Coddet, Professor Mervi Paulasto-Kröckel,Professor Feng-zhou Fang, Professor Ke-sheng Wang, and Professor Andrew YC Nee. Students and faculties also actively raised questions to these experts. At this forum, the attendants learned a great deal.
         The editorial board meeting served as an important directive for AiM to enhance its international reputation, and further defined the international development of AiM. Also, the forum focused on the applications of advanced manufacturing technologies in the manufacturing industry and the promotion of the development of these disciplines.
